Toddler Hopscotch

The weather is getting nicer so we have been staying outside for much longer than 15 minutes! We also just got a BBQ & since it is still light out at dinner time we have been playing outside while hubby grills us some food! The other night while dinner was grilling we played hopscotch...toddler version!

It's pretty much the same as regular hopscotch only I made 4 circles right on top of each other. I should have made them smaller so she could get from one to the other in just one hop, but it worked fine with the giant circles I made. {oops}

I made a line for her to stand on while she tossed a flat rock {which by the way took a whole 10 minutes for her to find the perfect one}.

 {Toss the rock onto a circle.}

 {Hop along until you reach the last one. Turn around and hop back.}

{On your way back, stop at the circle the rock is on and pick it up to use for your next turn.}

We played this for quite some time and Bug had a blast! I hope you go outside and play!

If you have any outside activities please link up and share on our Outside Play party. You can also take a look at all the other links there to get some other outside play ideas!

  1. How cute!!! I love that you did circles!
    I made a hopscotch years ago, for my older kids. It was rainy outside, so I made it in the hallway with masking tape. They had so much fun! I think I'll make a chalk one, like yours, for my girls next time we go to the park. They'll love it!

  2. so so so cute! I will have to do this with my little guy, no rock though, we'll just hop up and back down the line of circles. Maybe later this summer he will be ready to try doing the rock part. :)

  3. What a great idea. We have drawn out the hopscotch game and she jumps from square to square but doesn't really get it. Thank you for sharing at Sharing Saturday! I hope you will share again this week with us!

  4. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post with the Weekly Kid's Co-op. I'm Pauline and I blog over at http://lessonslearntjournal.com. May I please feature this (with a picture from your post) as part of my roundup of this week's linky party? I would also love to pin a picture from your post onto our very popular Weekly Kids' Co-op interest board :). Hope to hear from you soon.

  5. This is such a great idea. I'm pinning this to my outdoor play board. Thanks so much for linking up to the Weekly Kids Co-op.

  6. I love this! Thanks for linking it to the Kid's Co-op. I wanted to let you know that I included it as one of my favorite posts from last week on my blog today.
