I’ve never met a kid that doesn’t like to help. My kids love helping and being involved-especially with holiday preparations! This project came about while I was trying to get my house ready for Thanksgiving and let my kids help with the preparations in a meaningful way.
My son and I were making hand print turkeys (I’m a total sucker for kiddo hand prints. I love them!) and writing the names of people who were joining us on Thanksgiving. One thing led to another and we decided that this project would make an adorable placement. I have to say that he worked diligently to write each guest’s name and create a turkey he thought each would enjoy. The turkey placemats were a hug hit and at the end of the day,
each person took their placement home.
We decided that we would make another round of placemats for Christmas! And of course, we had to use handprints. There are so many adorable Christmas handprint crafts, and we finally settled on Christmas trees.
First, we labeled each placemat with a guest’s name and colored a trunk.
Next, we added handprints to fill out our tree.
After the paint dried, we added some fingerprint lights and a star.
And that’s it! Just laminate each one and you’re done!
A festive and personal touch for each guest!
Do your kids get involved in your holiday preparations? I’d love to hear how your little ones help!
Thanks,
Meg
