Sensory Play | Mud Dough

We love to play in the mud! It's such a fun sensory play dough and the kids will love it's muddy feeling texture!

Playdoh used to provide hours of imaginative play here, but lately it's been creating a huge mess and is done with in 10 minutes. This dough changed things up and was played with for an hour! Who knew a little shift in texture would put her back in dough play happiness!
Be sure to stir this up with the kiddo(s) too!

1/2 cup cold water
1 Tbs oil
2 Tbs brown paint
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbs cornstarch
1 1/2 cups flour

Mix the water, oil and paint together.

Stir in the remaining ingredients and kneed together.

That's it. Easy peasy. Add in some nature into it! We brought in some sticks (that's all we could find in snow covered grounds).

Of course we had to make some mud pies with stick candles. I mean, how could you not?!

We have many fun ideas to share.

  1. With the ingredients listed, how much mud dough does this make? I am doing an activity with 4-5 students, and wondering if I would need to add more or if that would be enough?

    Thank You

    1. I think this recipe would make enough for a small group of kids. :)
